Facebook is releasing a new set of emoji glyphs for Messenger tomorrow that’s designed to be more representative of women. Five emojis that have been traditionally displayed as men —the pedestrian, police officer, jogger, swimmer, and surfer — will all be female characters in the new set.

The company is also allowing users to select an emoji skin tone, and making sure it renders the same way across various smartphone platforms.

“We’re diversifying the genders to create a more balanced mix that’s more representative of our world,”the company said in ablog post.

Instead of a reverse-chronological feed of content, Instagram is becoming more like Facebook’s News Feed.

If your Instagram feed doesn’t already show photos and videos in seemingly random order, it will soon. After testing an algorithmic feed with a small percentage of its user-base over the past couple of months, Instagram is turning on the new feed for everyone.

Thanks to Twitter’s stalling growth, four-year-old Snapchat is now reportedly more popular than the 10-year-old microblogging service.

That’s according to Bloomberg, which claims that Snapchat now has 150 million daily active users. Twitter, meanwhile, apparently has lessthan 140 million daily active users, again according to Bloomberg. Neither Snapchat nor Twitter, however, have publicly responded to the report.

Facebook is shutting down Notify, the 7-month-old app that let you subscribe to push notifications from your favorite publishers. More than 70 partners used the app to send users alerts about the day’s top stories, including CNN, Bloomberg, and Vox Media, which owns The Verge. Notify users were alerted that the app is shutting down today via a push notification.

Facebook says the technology that powers Notify will be absorbed into other products. Chief among them: Messenger, where some news outlets are already experimenting with delivering the news via chatbots.

Tinder CEO Sean Rad said Thursday he is working to make the dating service more useful to those whose gender is more complex than just male or female.

At the moment, users are limited to expressing themselves (and people they are interested in dating) as male or female. That, Rad said, makes it tough for transgender people.

In about a month or two, Rad said, the company will add enhancements to its interface to expand the available options.

A website registered in North Korea appeared on the Internet Friday. It was a social network that looked almost exactly like Facebook: a blue and white color scheme, a newsfeed, the ability to add friends, post statuses, like, comment and share.

After the news hit that the site existed, Motherboard reported that the site had been hacked by an 18-year-old college student from Scotland.

After checking out the site, Andrew McKean clicked the "Admin"link at the bottom which brought up a login page. From there he guessed the username and password pretty easily: "admin" and "password."
